Archives for the month of: July, 2012
1 egg white
1 1/2oz (50 ml) gin
1/2oz (20 ml) fresh lemon juice
1 simple syrup (to taste)
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 dash Peychaud’s bitters

Beginning with the egg white, combine all ingredients (except bitters) in a mixing glass. Whisk with narrow end of a bar spoon. Add ice and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into chilled cocktail glass. Apply a dash of bitters to surface of drink.

Made this for a COW I was hosting before Christmas.  We all fell in love (and I had a bunch of egg yokes left to make custard!).  I decided to serve this for family Christmas cocktails.

2 lemon wedges
2 teaspoons superfine sugar (not powdered sugar; grind reg sugar in a Magic Bullet)
1 3/4 oz Jack Daniels
Lemon soda (like 7-Up) to top up

Muddle the lemon and the sugar together in a high ball glass.  Add ice and the remaining  ingredients.  Stir gently and serve with two straws.  Makes one drink.

Sebastien LOVED this drink (and he pretty much hates all mixed drinks) and drank the remaining JD.  :S

2oz. Rubena
1oz. Vodka
Lime squeezed

In an old fashion glass add Rubena and Vodka over ice. Fill the rest of the glass with tonic. Squeeze lime wedge in drink and enjoy.
